The beginning of summer according to Arab traditions.
The rising of Manzilat al-Shartan begins at dawn on May 12 from the eastern horizon, according to Arab tradition.
It marks the beginning of summer and the onset of intense daytime heat across the Arabian Peninsula. Among those in agriculture, it is commonly referred to as “Tharya al-Qayz” (the summer twilight). This rising occurs during the period known as “Kannat al-Thuraya”, which refers to the disappearance of the Pleiades.
